Lesson 1 - Historical Thinking Concepts and Modern Technology
Lesson Objectives:
- Students will relate the main historical thinking concepts to discussions of technology and society
Lesson Tasks:
- Watch the following video on the "Fourth Industrial Revolution". Pay particular attention not to the individual techs the speakers mention, but rather to how they discuss the relationship between advanced technology and changes in local and global societies.
- Explore the attached slideshow and complete the discussion questions in a small group. Be prepared to report out to the class for certain questions.

Lesson 2 - Causes of the Industrial Revolution in Britain
Lesson Objectives:
- Explain the difference between Immediate and Underlying Causes
- List methods for evaluating the importance of a causal factor
- Assess the immediate and underlying causes of some of the most notable changes in early industrial Britain
Lesson Tasks:
- Complete tasks 1 & 2 on the "Causes of the Industrial Revolution" handout. This is a mindmap exercise. Assessment: Criterion A Iⅈ Criterion C (Communicating) ii. Make sure to use effective strategies for organizing and communicating your information in a mindmap or similar graphic organizer.
- Self and peer assess your arguments for the most significant causal factor of the Industrial Revolution, then revise if needed.
